Xiaomi Adds to its Budget Lineup with the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE

Xiaomi has unveiled a brand-new budget phone: the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

Not to be confused with the similarly named Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, the 11 Lite 5G NE is just 6.81mm thick, making it one of the slimmest 5G phones you can buy. The new phone has a 6.55in AMOLED display and a 64Mp main camera.

It joins the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, bulking out the 11 line-up from the phone brand. All these phones have dropped the signature ‘Mi’ from their names.

The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE comes in a choice of four matt colours – black, blue, pink and a new white shade and is lightweight at 158g. The display supports 10-bit TrueColor as well as Dolby Vision, and has a 90Hz refresh rate.

The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chip, which is also in the Realme GT and the Honor 50 series. This processor is the key difference between the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, which uses the Snapdragon 780G. However, it does share the same 4,250mAh battery and 33W fast charging technology.

The main 64Mp shooter is backed up by an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, as well as a 5MP telemacro lens, along with Xiaomi software features such as vlog mode, as well as cinematic video filters for keen home filmmakers. On the front, there is a 20Mp selfie camera.

There are three RAM and storage variants: 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, 8GB and 128GB and 8GB and 256GB.

It starts at €369, which roughly converts to £315 (without VAT). The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G currently retails for £399, so we expect the cost of this new Xiaomi Lite phone to be similar to this, if maybe slightly cheaper due to the less powerful processor.

The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE will be available to buy from Xiaomi in October. Official UK pricing for the phone will be confirmed closer to launch date.
