Ever since TikTok made it possible to start a live stream, a lot of users have been trying to figure out how to go live on TikTok. The process does appear to be straightforward and yet many users don’t seem to figure out how going live on TikTok works.

It’s no surprise that people want to jump on this bandwagon. TikTok has become one of the largest and most influential social media platforms. But although anyone can download the app to start browsing and creating engaging content, setting up a TikTok live stream is not as straightforward as watching other people’s content.

If you’ve tried going live on TikTok on your smartphone and tablet, Samsung or otherwise, but couldn’t, it probably has to do with TikTok’s limitations rather than your choice of device. In other words, the platform has a few requirements that users must meet before they’re allowed to live stream on TikTok.

How do you go live on TikTok?

There are certain age restrictions that TikTok has imposed. Anyone aged 13 or higher can create a TikTok account. However, users have to be at least 16 years old to be able to go live. In addition, only content creators over the age of 18 are allowed to earn gift points when going live.

Now, if you meet these age requirements for TikTok, you still need to meet one more condition before you can be ready to go live on the platform. You need to have at least 1,000 followers to go live on TikTok. You’ll not find the TikTok live feature in the app unless you meet this condition.

If you meet all these requirements, you can start your live TikTok video stream by following these steps:

Step 1: Open the TikTok app on your device and tap the “+” icon in the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of the screen

Step 2: Select the “LIVE” button from the lower-right corner of the screen. You can now Select a thumbnail and write a title for the live stream (these details can be changed later as well)

Step 3: Tap “Go Live” and start engaging with your community!

Remember, once you’re live on Tiktok, you can apply camera effects, filter comments, and add moderators in real time to manage your stream. When you’re ready to end the live stream, simply tap the “x” button located in the upper-left corner of the screen.

How going live on TikTok can help you

Most new creators on the platform only want to find out how many followers they need on TikTok to go live. That’s because they know how TikTok live can help them grow their audience on the app. Live streams are great for increasing engagement and expanding the reach of your content. Creators also can also make some money if they receive gift points from viewers.
