The Sony Xperia 1 III smartphone was announced over two months ago, with promises to be launched “at the start of this summer”. The Sony United States division has finally listed the phone with a pre-order date of July 1. The price will be $1,299.99, which is pretty much the same worldwide, including Russia and China.
The Xperia 1 III is the first smartphone globally with a 4K 120 Hz OLED screen. It also brings variable telephoto aperture, ZEISS lenses with T* coating on all three 12 MP shooters, and 4K recording at 120 fps.
Sony might have developed the new smartphone as the ultimate camera phone. Still, it also has a lot under the hood – a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage, of course, LPDDR5 + UFS 3.1 for fastest writing and reading speeds while taking videos.
Sony US is offering the Xperia 1 III for pre-order through B&H and other retailers but is yet to reveal the actual shipping date. Another big unknown is the availability of the smaller sibling, the Xperia 5 III – we have no info whatsoever about its arrival, but hopefully, it will tag along.
