For obvious reasons, New Year’s plans aren’t quite what they normally are this year. But thanks to a new Apple Pay special offer, at least you can get 20% off a food delivery using the Grubhub app or website.

Provided that you pay using Apple’s own payment platform, that is.

The offer — available through January 1, 2021 — allows you to claim the 1/5 discount on a single delivery order so long as it’s in excess of $10. (Not including tax, tip, or fees.) This must be placed using the Grubhub app or on the Grubhub website. You then have to enter the promo code APPLEPAY at the checkout, and pay using Apple Pay.

It cannot be used toward a food order that includes alcohol, can’t be used in conjunction with other offers, and is valid only on personal accounts — rather than corporate ones.

Grubhub lets you order takeout from a wide range of local eateries, covering a variety of cuisine types “Whether it’s Chinese, Greek, Italian, or any other food type you’re craving, it’s covered,” the company notes. “With exclusive local restaurant partners like Taco Bell and McDonalds, you’ll find that mom and pop shop AND the national spot you love.”

Apple Pay offers are worth exploring

Apple regularly teams up with a variety of retailers for special offers on products via Apple Pay. These can range from fast food items such as free fries at McDonald’s and a $1 chicken sandwich at Burger King to discounts on custom eyewear via Ray-Bans or money off sports merchandise.

It’s a smart setup since it gives these retailers extra exposure, while helping promote Apple Pay in the process. From a customer perspective, these deals are also frequently pretty good value. It’s therefore worth checking in regularly just to stay on top of them.
